Why You Should Consider an In-Home Session for your Next Family Photos
I was fortunate to capture The Weaver Family in their home, resulting in such sweet and personal images. I noticed that the family was very relaxed and comfortable, and their two young girls even tried to play with me and show me their toys!
When planning your next family photo session, consider scheduling with the photographer to have the photos taken within your own home. Not only does your home bring an extra level of comfort, it provides familiarity, an air of personalization, privacy, and a controlled environment.
People are most comfortable and relaxed at home - it’s our safe haven. This is a great benefit to home sessions as it leads to more authentic expression and genuine action. The sense of familiarity creates a laidback aura in the home where children of all ages can be themselves, surrounded by their toys, books and everyday-life elements. In this session with The Weaver Family, I was able to capture the girls playing with some of their favorite toys - Bluey and Little People! Their dad was also able to read them a book near the end of the session, which created a calm atmosphere that relaxed everyone. The girls became fully engrossed in the story. Truly a magical moment to capture.

There is a level of privacy that comes with an in-home session that cannot be replicated outdoors or in a studio. It is a strong point into considering an in-home session allowing room for the quiet and more intimate moments to be captured. Newborns who are sensitive to bright and loud environments may be more easily photographed at home. The home also provides full privacy for nursing mothers who choose to capture the bond between themselves and their baby.
MEMORY MAKING
One of the activities The Weaver’s chose to do during their family session was to jump up and down on the bed together. Undiluted joy radiated from the young girls as they laughed and jumped, with their parents there to support them. As they got tired and sat down, Dad sat on the bed and started a tickle fight! More smiles ensued.
PURELY CONTENT
The two sisters were completely content to lay on the floor and play with their Little People and Bluey figurines. We spent nearly 15 minutes playing with the toys.
